Alistair Hobday

Alistair works in CSIRO’s Sustainable Marine Futures Program. His research projects have included documenting the impacts of climate change on marine biodiversity and fishery resources, and developing, prioritising and testing adaptation options to underpin sustainable use and conservation into the future. He works in multi-disciplinary teams and seeks to support management and policy uptake of research via co-production with stakeholders.

Brandon Meteyard

Brandon Meteyard is the NPF Industry Pty Ltd (NPFI) Projects Manager, where his roles include NPF catch and effort data management, industry and stakeholder liaison, management of the NPF Crew Member Observer (CMO) Program, and assisting with delivery of projects aimed at maintaining the sustainability of all species the fishery interacts with.

 

Brandon has a degree in marine biology, loves seafood and cares deeply about sustainable fishing and the marine environment. He began his career in 2016 as a scientific observer with the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA), living and working onboard vessels across all Commonwealth fisheries. During this time, he developed a strong connection to the Northern Prawn Fishery, a place known for its delicious wild-caught prawns, world-leading sustainability practices, and amazing people

Chauncey Hammond

Chauncey has been the Chair of Fishing Families WA since 2018. He operates his own management consulting firm applying high level strategic and commercial advice to the owners of a variety of significant wild catch fisheries that have operations in Western Australia, Northern Territory, and Queensland.  In addition, he sits on ten domestic company boards dealing with wild harvest fisheries, renewable energy and beef production.

He has extensive experience in the following wild harvest commercial fisheries: lobster, tuna, abalone, prawns, scallops, sea cucumber and stout whiting.
 
 Chauncey has degrees in law, engineering and finance and has been involved (approximate value) in projects ($2.5+ Billion) and mergers & acquisitions in excess of $700M.  For over 30 years, he has been the commercial and strategic advisor, project manager and primary negotiator to major Australian Seafood Companies.

Delahay Miller

Delahay Miller is a proud Wirangu and Mirning man from the Far West Coast of South Australia and Co-Founder of Barnda by the Bay. From a young boy walking and fishing his coast, to leading Australia’s first fishing agreement between the Crown, Delahay has worked with more than 150 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the country.

He has now built four Indigenous-led enterprises, including Barnda by the Bay, Australia’s first premium Indigenous-branded oyster venture, established in partnership with the Bascomb family of MOOKA Oysters in Smoky Bay. While still in its early stages, the venture is pioneering a new model of Indigenous participation in premium seafood markets by combining cultural connection to Sea Country with generations of aquaculture expertise.

Delahay brings insights from joint-venture structuring, brand creation and early market entry, including direct engagement with chefs, buyers and media.

Jayne Gallagher

Jayne Gallagher, CEO of Honey & Fox, a marketing consultancy that specialises in provenance authenticity and brand.  Jayne is the driving force behind Provenance Powered Marketing, a unique approach that transforms origin stories and proof into premium positioning. She helps fishers, farmers, and food businesses access high-value markets and build powerful brands that command premium prices. With expertise in strategy, market research, and storytelling, Jayne helps companies unlock new commercial opportunities and stand out on the global stage.

Lauren Drummond

Lauren joined Sydney Fish Market in 2020 and oversees the marketing and visitor experience portfolio, including strategic communications, customer engagement, industry liaison and Sydney Seafood School.

 Lauren has over 13 years of diverse brand and customer marketing experience, having delivered integrated campaigns and communications initiatives across the property, education, and travel sectors, including roles at Abercrombie & Kent, Lendlease, and AAT Kings.

Sveinn Sigurður Jóhannesson

Sveinn Sigurður Jóhannesson is the co-founder and CEO of GreenFish, an award-winning Icelandic technology company transforming fisheries through artificial intelligence, satellite insights, and high-performance supercomputing.

With a background in marine innovation and business administration from the University of Reykjavík, Sveinn has led the development of predictive models that deliver 8-day forecasts on fish location, quality, and catch composition. These models are already helping leading fishing companies across all major ocean zones reduce fuel use, improve sustainability, and maximize catch value.  GreenFish was awarded the International Seafood Innovation Award 2025 for pioneering tools that combine decades of fishing data with advanced AI.

Tiffany Bock

Tiff stepped into the role of General Manager Inshore at Seafood New Zealand in September 2023, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep passion for fisheries.

Before joining Seafood NZ, she spent 15 years at the Ministry for Primary Industries, where she focused primarily on deepwater fisheries management. Her portfolio also included work on major initiatives such as the development of the New Zealand Seafood Industry Transformation Plan and the Ministerial Inquiry into the Use and Allocation of Migrant Labour in the Seafood Sector.

Originally from California, Tiff moved to New Zealand in 2005 to pursue a degree in marine biology. She began her fisheries career as a Science Officer at the then-Ministry of Fisheries — and quickly caught the fisheries bug.

Outside the office, Tiff is kept on her toes by her energetic 3-year-old, who is already getting an early education in all things fish.

Wendy Hunt

Dr Wendy Hunt is the Academic Chair of Food Science and Nutrition at Murdoch University. She has over 25 years of experience in the field of Food Science, having roles in management, research, teaching, and services to the food industry. Her research is in food and human health with a particular interest in seafood, starch, grains, fibre and satiety.

Aaron Irving

Aaron Irving is the General Manager | Deepwater at Seafood New Zealand. Prior to this, he served as Chief Executive of the Deepwater Group in New Zealand and the Pearl Producers Association in Western Australia. With a background in law and a strong focus on science-policy integration, Aaron has assisted in driving reform efforts in deepwater fisheries, including initiatives to improve transparency, sustainability, and fishery/ecosystem resilience.

He works closely with deepwater fishery quota owners, oceans scientists, and regulators to advance sustainable ocean management. He is engaged in a number of international and Australasian-based collaborative projects.

Aaron’s work reflects a deep belief that environmental stewardship and industry leadership must go hand in hand — and that resilience in fisheries depends on innovation, collaboration and courage.

Nicholas Giles

Nick has spent 25 years working in Government to support the sustainable management of fisheries resources, developing a great understanding of the marine landscape, stakeholder perspectives, management frameworks, and the ways management can be effective or ineffective. 


He has significant on water experience in Fisheries Compliance, and extensive experience in Fisheries Management. He has led management of specific fisheries also worked across the broader commercial fisheries framework including the Commercial Fisheries Business Adjustment Program and Total Allowable Catch and Effort setting programs.


More recently he has focused on development of NSW harvest strategies and the broader concepts of managing fisheries resources rather than individual fisheries or sectors, and also extending this to the Review of the National Guidelines to Develop Fishery Harvest Strategies.

He is an experienced engagement, policy and regulation developer, focused on robust assessment, management and consultation to support effective use and protection of fisheries resources.

Olivia Smailes

Olivia holds a BSc in Zoology from the University of Leeds (2018) and an MSc in Fisheries Science and Management from James Cook University, Townsville.

As a specialist at Blueshift Consulting, Olivia provides strategic advice across the blue economy, focusing on fisheries, aquaculture, and environmental markets. In addition to her expertise as a fisheries scientist, Olivia is a skilled science communicator and leads Blueshift’s communications pillar, BlueComms. Combining her academic background with her talent for graphic design, Olivia simplifies complex scientific concepts into engaging, accessible formats. This approach not only builds understanding but also drives meaningful connections with non-specialist audiences.

Through BlueComms, Olivia has helped industry stakeholders achieve diverse goals, from driving impact and fostering participation to enhancing trust and promoting scientific literacy. Her work exemplifies the power of clear communication in advancing industry growth and fostering collaboration within the blue economy.

Sam Williams

Sam is the principal investigator of the FishLIGHT project and senior fisheries scientist with the Queensland Department of Primary Industries. As principal investigator Sam has experience in delivering large work portfolio, which includes overseeing the Fisheries Science Directorate within QDPI and leading the implementation of large multi-disciplinary fisheries research programs. Sam published widely in the field of fisheries science and holds adjunct research fellow positions at the University of Queensland and University of the Sunshine Coast, where he supervises post-graduate research students.
