Call for Abstracts Now Open

We invite individuals and organisations across the seafood supply chain to submit abstracts for inclusion in the Seafood Directions 2026 program.

Australia’s Premier Seafood Industry Conference

At Seafood Directions 2026, we come together to shape the future of one of the country’s most vital, sustainable, and innovative food industries. From sea to plate, the future of Australian seafood will be defined by how we respond to consumer trends, harness technology, build resilience, and secure access for generations to come.

Presentation Topics

Seafood and Seafood Consumers

Understanding and engaging with consumers is at the heart of future success. Sessions will explore changing tastes, foodservice trends, provenance, trust, and how chefs, retailers, and marketers are influencing what Australians eat and value.

Technology & Innovation – AI, Fisheries Management Changes

Emerging technologies – from AI and data analytics to gear innovation and remote sensing – are revolutionising how we manage, harvest, and trace our seafood. The conference will showcase cutting-edge tools reshaping fisheries management and aquaculture.

People – Health & Wellbeing, Training and Productivity

A future-ready seafood sector needs a healthy, skilled, and productive workforce. We’ll tackle workforce development, mental health, diversity, leadership, and how to attract and retain talent across our regional and coastal communities.

Nature and Climate Change Resilience

Sustainability is non-negotiable. Climate resilience, ecosystem health, and environmental stewardship are critical to our industry’s future. We’ll spotlight science, policy, and practice in adaptation and environmental performance.

Security, Access and Food

Securing access to marine, coastal, and land-based aquaculture resources amid competing demands is essential to national food security. Discussions will explore policy, regulation, spatial planning, and how we protect and strengthen industry access to ensure a sustainable supply of Australian seafood for a growing population.

Market Access and Trade

Expanding and diversifying markets is vital to our economic resilience. Explore trade strategy, branding, certification, logistics, and geopolitical challenges – and how Australia’s seafood can maintain its edge in a complex global market.
